A Room for Arriving
Welcome to Vettiorum.
We begin with a proposition:
Beauty = Time × Attention
A room changes as we learn to live in it. We find where the light falls in the afternoon, which chair we draw toward the table, what needs tending and what can be left alone. Some of its pleasures become apparent only after we have been there a while.
Vettiorum gives these encounters a place. There are rooms for making and conversation, for images and books, for the thoughts we can finish and those we are still turning over. There is room for privacy, too.
Rome is a point of departure. Stone, water, painted walls, the life of a courtyard: these give us things to look at closely. Our curiosity extends wherever people have given ordinary life care and form.
The house is still taking shape. You will find a few things in each room, chosen to be lived with. Some ask for a longer reading. Others may hold you for only a moment.
Begin wherever something catches your attention. For a first visit, we suggest Attention Is a Practice, in the Forum. It begins with a chair that needs a small repair.
You are welcome to linger, or to wander through the house.
